FAQS

Will you help me obtain permits for my ADU?

Yes, of course. We can help you handle all the necessary credentials, permits, and paperwork that you will need. Our team has been working in the construction industry for years, and assisting in this area is nothing new to us.

Are there specific requirements for my ADU’s size?

Every state has different requirements that limit how large an ADU can be. In Seattle, your ADU can measure a max of 1,000 square feet. We will help you determine what size ADU you are allowed to have on your property.

What are the different types of ADUs?

There are several different types of ADUs. Attached accessory dwelling units are part of the main residence, and they share the same electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Detached accessory dwelling units stand apart from the main dwelling. They have their own independent entrances and HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Then there are garage and room conversion units, which are created by transforming old space into something new. Junior accessory dwelling units are the last type of ADU; these are miniature versions of regular ADUs. They measure a max of 500 square feet and usually lack a full kitchen and bathroom.

How long does it take to build an ADU?

It can take between eight and 12 months to complete an ADU. It depends on the size and the scope of your project. We’ll be able to give you a more accurate time estimate once we know a little bit more about your specific project.

How much does an ADU cost?

Once again, it is impossible to give you an estimate without knowing more about your project. Costs vary. Some materials are pricier than others, and the costs vary depending on the economy. If you want a specific number, contact us with details about your project for an estimate.
